Why are the Viennese so grumpy?
Vienna Tourist Board
The Vienna Tourist Board built a campaign around the Wiener Grant, the local talent for being grumpy, and asked whether the art is to blame. For World Smile Day, portraits across the city's museums, including works by Schiele and Klimt, were augmented so the famous sour faces break into a smile when a visitor scans them. Art expert Markus Huebl led the accompanying tours. A cross museum campaign built on a joke the city tells about itself.
Outcome: Cross museum campaign for World Smile Day with guided tours, produced by the Vienna Tourist Board.
