Yunus Emre Institute Vienna
Filipino painter Norlie Meimban showed work in "Art Speaks Diversity" at the Yunus Emre Institute in Vienna, one strand of the Long Nights of Interculturality festival in September 2019. His canvases are flat, hard-edged scenes, a supermarket aisle and a green hillside among them, and visitors point a phone at one to see the figures inside it move. Meimban worked in animation for roughly twelve years before painting, and the augmented layer is where that background shows.
Outcome: Part of "Art Speaks Diversity", a 15-artist exhibition at the Yunus Emre Institute co-curated by Joanna Mann and ICDO president Josipa Palac, during the Long Nights of Interculturality, 1 to 6 September 2019.
